Updated March 2013

Unfortunately we do not use couriers for our frogs, we only offer collection in person and this is strictly by prior arrangement. We reserve the right to refuse sale of frogs to any person we think incapable of providing the proper husbandry for the species.

All our frogs (adults and juveniles) are raised on Repashy Superfoods which we believe are the best all round supplement available. We also include safely and sustainably sourced 'meadow plankton' in our frogs diet to provide 'natural nutrition' for several months of the year. All our frogs receive regular periods of beneficial UVb lighting.

dendroWorks offers no specific guarantee on animals after collection, aside from the frogs being in apparent good health and condition upon collection. Failure of a frog to thrive after collection may be due to a variety of factors, and thus it is difficult to assess who is at fault.

We should be notified immediately of any problems in order to address them promptly and offer suggestions or corrective measures for a possible solution. You should have a good idea of how the animal is doing after three days in your possession. No replacements will be offered after this time period.

Most dart frog froglets and juveniles cannot be sexed.

This chart indicates the odds of getting a sexed pair of frogs.

Before purchasing your frogs the following points should have been resolved

A vivarium should be available to provide the correct environment for the frogs.

  • The vivarium should have been planted with suitable plants which will provide hiding places and refuges for the frogs.
  • The vivarium should have been ‘seeded’ with springtails and other isopods to provide a ready source of food for the frogs.
  • Make sure you have mastered culturing fruit flies or have a ready source for purchasing them.

vivarium1

One of our terribilis vivariums.

In general the temperatures in the vivarium should be around 27°C during the day with a drop to 22°C during the night. This temperature range is suitable for most dart frogs. Dart frogs need high humidity and the vivarium should be between 80% and 100% at all times.

To maintain the humidity the vivarium will need spraying at least once a day, this can either be by hand or by installing an automatic misting system. The environment within the vivarium should provide both wet and dry spots.

vivarium2images/stories/dscf2395.jpg

The vivarium needs lighting between 12 to 16 hours every day and a number of lighting options or systems are readily available.

and with the correct environmental conditions both the plants and the frogs thrive. This is one of our Oophaga histrionica vivariums

Hey Graham

Graham and Marcus are passionate poison-dart frog keepers and breeders. They live very close by to us and are very much into amphibian conservation. Lots of people keep amphibians in captivity, but there are few who do it properly, and to the extent these guys do – their care, commitment, and ethical approach in keeping these animals is absolutely spot on and I cannot speak highly enough of them. We were amazed at the high quality of the animals being produced and the conditions that the animals were being maintained in – the frogs and vivs simply blew us away!

Graham and Marcus kindly provided us with some of their young frogs for the Museum collection, which was very much appreciated. I would like to thank them both for their time and the specimens, and very much look forward to working with them in the future.

"Just picked up a trio of Ranitomeya vanzolinii from dendroworks, the frogs are healthy, active and very bold! It was really great to meet someone in the hobby for all the right reasons and Graham also gave me some great tips on plant use, FF culturing and materials for building vivarium's, among with other snippets of dart wisdom.

It was defiantly worth the trip and I would recommend to anyone thinking about buying from Dendroworks, if only so you can meet the man and see his darts!"

"Hello,
First of all, excuse my very bad english,
At the beginning I thought I was crazy to make around 2000 km (you will convert in miles by yourself....) just for two frogs. Even if it was rare frogs....But it was well worth it!!!Not only the frogs are great, really great, but they also settled very well in France despite the long trip. And my females really love them!!! And I also learnt a lot of things. Yes that's possible, even after 30 years of keeping amphibians...I see a new way to built beautiful and really efficient tanks, with a really light weight.
Tanks with really new proportions for me (I think about the reticulata's tank...what a great tank!!!),a different way to raise the froglets...
A lot of things in fact, too long to list!!!
My only regret was to have only two hours to spend with Graham!!!! Trains don't wait.....
Hope to see you soon again Graham...In fact as soon as possible and, why not?, maybe in south of France?"

Picked up some stunning Pumilio's after a round trip of 480 miles. Fantastic frogs from 2 really nice guys who know their stuff. Made feel very welcome when collecting my frogs. Was blown away by the vivariums and frogs Marcus & Graham had, most of which are now on my wish list. All the display vivs look like "slices of nature", well designed and natural looking. Inspired me to go home and redesign all my own vivs. These guys are definately in the hobby for the pleasure of frog keeping and not the money, would be the idea point of contact for those looking to get into the hobby and also those already in the hobby looking to expand, much can be learned by talking to Marcus and Graham. Just sorry i couldn't spare more time to chat on my last visit but I had a long drive ahead. Look forward to seeing some of those histrionica becoming available....

"I have gotten frogs from Dendroworks on a couple of occasions now and have nothing but good things to say about them.
Both Marcus and Graham are top class blokes, who are very welcoming and gracious when you visit.
The vivariums they have put together are awe inspiring to say the least and a must see for anybody in the frog hobby.
I would highly recommend Dendroworks to anybody.
Quality captive bred frogs, a plethora of sound information and tips coupled with a rare cuppa... what more could you want?"

Picked up a trio of terribs this weekend from Graham and Marcus and I’m over the moon with them. They have a great knowledge of amphibian husbandry and a great collection of frogs all in some of the best display vivs I have seen.  They go to great care to ensure all is at its best for the frogs, this is obvious in the breeding success they have. The frogs were given to me in tub they have been growing in and so the stress was minimal for the drive home. I could have spent hours with them, thanks chaps for the time I spent with you, I am sure there will be something else I will return for!

Great to meet you both Marcus & Graham and see your amazing collection of dart frogs in their lovely vivs, it was such a pleasure.
Very happy with the group of Phyllobates Terribilis from you which all were very healthy.
Currently they are doing very well and are stunning frogs and growing very nicely.
Great to deal with and would recommend to anyone else.

'I purchased a group of 4 Phyllobates Terribilis 'Yellow' from Marcus last year, and I couldn't be happier with the progress of these frogs. Fantastic quality stock, plus the wealth of information and passion provided by Marcus and his father means I will be returning to them for more frogs in the future. These guys are a real asset to the hobby with fantastic frogs and setups!

"I purchased three young Phyllobates Terribilis from DendroWorks last year, and was very impressed with both their breeding facilities and sales ethics. The frogs are very bold, to the point of being able to hand feed them, and have begun to show signs of breeding behaviour. 10/10 from me!"

Having just returned from Marcus's house, I would like to say a big thank you to him and his family for a warm welcome and a look at his fabulous set up. Pristine vivs, that photographs will NEVER come close to doing justice to, fabulous frogs and some excellent ideas to carry forward to use in my collection, and I almost forgot, 4 superb teribilis froglets, thanks again mate.
